Welcome to the documentation for GI Labs ego-centric capture devices — wearable hardware for recording first-person ("egocentric") video and motion data for robot-learning and perception datasets.

These guides are written for the people who actually use the devices: operators in the field and engineers integrating the data. No GI Labs account is required to read them.

EGO1 is the first released device. This site is built to grow: each new device gets its own section, so the guide you're reading today won't be reorganized out from under you when the lineup expands.

How the EGO1 docs are organized

The EGO1/EGO1GS section mirrors the printed user manual chapter for chapter, so the two never drift:

• 0. Quick start & index — the five-step happy path and the chapter list.
• Chapters 1 to 6 — the field guide: the device, SD cards, power and recording, the phone app and web preview, retrieving and viewing data, FAQ. A phone (Android, iOS, or HarmonyOS) or any browser, plus a computer. No command line.
• 7. Engineering integration — data streams, the visio-schema Python package, timestamps, calibration.
• Chapters 8, 9 and 12 (marked admin) — QR provisioning, cloud upload and fleet monitoring, recording encryption. For whoever owns the cloud account and holds the keys.
• Chapters 10 and 11 — app and firmware release notes.
• Chapter 13 — on-device hand detection (EGO1GS).
